Chiedu Nchekwube, MD, FAAFP, ABIHM
Dr. Nchekwube is the founder of the Center. He is board certified and specialized in Family Medicine and also board certified in the sub-specialty of Integrative Medicine. He has been practicing Integrative Medicine since 1988. Dr. Nchekwube has been a guest on many radio and television programs. He is a clinical assistant professor of family Medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago and Indiana University Medical Schools. Dr. Nchekwube researches and formulates disease-specific nutraceutical products. He modifies and teaches meditation techniques for self- healing.
Dr. Chiedu Nchekwube practices what he preaches. He has been practicing yoga since the age of 17 and has been an avid meditator for over 35 years. He shares his experiences with the public and his patients in a very comedic and casual manner thereby facilitating learning in relaxed environment.
Ngozi Nchekwube, JD
She is the COO of Family Medicine and Wellness Center and has managed the center since its inception in 1997. FMWC operations depend on her able guidance and business prudence. The impetus for many of the programs in the center derived from her practicing what the center preaches. With her deep understanding of integrative medicine, she is able to mirror the patients’ experiences making it easy to smoothly facilitate the Implementation of most of the programs in our center.

Leanna Gonzales, Administrative Assistant
Leanna wears many hats in the practice. She makes things happen from the inception of any idea to its implementation in the practice. If anyone needs anything in the practice she is the go to person. When she’s not busy multitasking at FMWC, Leanna enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband, family, and dog.
Marisa Mendez, Front Office Manager
Marisa has been the coder and accuracy officer here at FMWC for many years. Not only does she verify codes for our records and the insurance companies; she also enjoys assisting patients with any questions on bills and assists each department at FMWC where needed with no hesitation. Marisa loves spending time with her family and her beloved yorkie – Gracie. Though she admits her personality is more analytical and quiet, her passions include singing, traveling, and baseball.
Richard Christiansen, Book Keeping
Richard has been with FMWC for many years and is educated in areas of financial analysis. You may have also seen Richard assisting in the Wellness Shoppe at times as well. Richard is very knowledgeable and friendly to all staff and patients. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, golfing, fishing, and reading.
Candace Ollie, Charge Medical Assistant
Candace was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Lincoln College of Technology for RMA Certification. She has been an MA for 10 years and was recently promoted to Charge MA here at FMWC. Candace always has a smile on her face and is efficient and hardworking. She is a proud mother of a son and daughter as well as mother to her cat and dog. Candace loves music, meditating, reading, and spending time with family.
Shanita Blackburn, Medical Assistant
Shanita began with Family Medicine Wellness Center just this year but has become one of our most appreciated Medical Assistants. Shanita makes patients feel at ease with her kindness, empathy, and laid back attitude. At home she is also a loving mother to two children and enjoys music and dance.
Brandon Bergner, Receptionist/ Assistant Manager Wellness Shoppe
Brandon recently joined Family Medicine Wellness Center in our Wellness Shoppe. He is the Shoppe Manager and enjoys going to Chicago Bears Games, collecting sports memorabilia, and exotic cars.
